Sneak Into An EV Spot In Washington, Get A $124 Fine

EV parking etiquette is apparently a very complicated and controversial matter. But one thing is clear. A gasmobile should not be parking its behind in an EV’s spot.

To crack down on less than polite drivers, or at least deter them from doing something stupid, the Washington State legislature has just passed legislation that warrants slapping a $124 fine on anyone driving a vehicle that can’t plug into an electric socket but then proceeds to park in a plug-in vehicle’s special parking spot. (I know, $124 is somewhat of an odd amount for a fine, isn’t it? I guess we just have to remember that this is Washington.)

The bill was passed 7-1 (what was the EV hater’s argument against it?), but it won’t be confirmed until Governor Jay Inslee signs it into law — which he’s sure to do.
